On May 15, 2017 KSL NewsRadio’s popular podcast, The Nightside Project, crossed 500,000 downloads. The show, hosted by Alex Kirry and Ethan Millard, left KSL Radio’s terrestrial signal on August 11, 2016 after 10 successful years on the air. It was relaunched as a podcast a few weeks later, and has been thriving in the digital space ever since.
500,000 Colombian Pesos?!
To celebrate the milestone, and in pure Nightside style, Alex and Ethan will be giving away 500,000 Colombian pesos (approx. $200 American dollars) as part of a text contest. To enter, listeners simply need to text the word “ALEX” to 57500.
Finish Your Commute Happy
Often irreverent but never crude, the goal of Nightside is to help listeners end the day happy with a lighter take on the day’s news. During “Zen Headlines,” one of the staples of the show, Alex and Ethan read humorous and interesting news stories, many of which are submitted by listeners via social media.
“It’s been a thrill to kind of reinvent what Nightside is,” said host Alex Kirry. “With the flexibility of a podcast, there’s not as much pressure to fill three hours on the radio. We can talk for as long or short as we want until a topic comes to its natural conclusion.”
Host Ethan Millard feels the same way. “The past nine months have been an absolute blast. The show is really firing on all cylinders, and we can’t wait to see what the future brings.”
