SALT LAKE CITY, UT – On Saturday April 22nd KSL NewsRadio will host the 6th annual “Ride to Light Up Eureka.” The ride departs at 10:30 a.m., and is a partnership between KSL, Burt Brothers Tire & Service, and Intermountain Harley Davidson.
The first ride was in 2011. When Doug Wright learned the small Utah city of Eureka was struggling to come up with funds to install new street lamps, he came to the rescue. Within two years, the ride had raised more than enough money to purchase and install the street lamps, and excess funds are now used for other needed city improvements and beautification projects.
Eureka is near and dear to Doug Wright’s heart, and you’ll oftentimes hear him on-the-air referring to the city, which has a population of just 662, lovingly. He and his wife D have a second home there that they visit frequently. This year, ride organizers are expecting up to 1,000 riders to participate. The ride is just shy of 100 miles and originates from the Harley Davidson Salt Lake store at 2928 S State Street.
The fee to participate is $20, which includes a catered lunch in historic downtown Eureka as well as a commemorative “Light Up Eureka” pin. Pre-registration is encouraged and can be done any time prior to the ride at the Salt Lake Harley Davidson store (2928 S State Street, SLC). More information can be found on the Doug Wright Show Facebook page.
